Experience
Before I was a teaching assistant and discussion leader for the Core Humanities program at the University of Nevada, Reno, I tutored writing in the Tutoring and Learning Center at Truckee Meadows Community College for three years. During my undergraduate and graduate years as a student, my coursework covered a diverse range of subjects in American and world history, including race, ethnicity, and gender issues, politics and literature, sociology, linguistics, and philosophy. I believe in taking an integrative approach to tutoring, addressing students' needs and valuing their individual backgrounds, interests, and learning styles while facilitating their effort to learn new ideas and understand assignments.
